Celebrating Art and Nature - National Wildlife Refuge Week Kickoff Friends of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, Onda Gallery in Lake Oswego and the artists participating of this event celebrate nature through art and community. Join the Friends for art, wine and conversation and view work by local artists inspired by Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge and the natural environment of the Pacific Northwest. The gallery has invited artists to create work to be displayed and sold on this special evening in benefit of the Friends of the Refuge and their nature and outdoor educational programs for children and adults at Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. Art inspired by nature in a variety of media will be featured, including photography, wood sculpture, fused glass, oils, watercolor, and more.
Friends of the Refuge President, Norman Penner, states, “We see this art show as a way to showcase the creativity of the community, while providing funds to further our goal of connecting children with nature”. He goes on to say that the Friends appreciate the generosity of Onda Gallery and the gallery's commitment to sustainable and fair trade art. Friends of the Refuge (FOR) is a community-based non-profit volunteer organization supporting the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. FOR is dedicated to the restoration and conservation of the Refuge for the benefit of wildlife, and for public education and recreation.
