Serena Barton interprets women's stories in oil and acrylic paintings, assemblages, altered books, and encaustic collages. Italian Renaissance poet Veronica Franco became a courtesan; 17th century Mexican poet Juana de la Cruz became a nun. The verses of both women delighted thousands of readers, yet both were accused of heresy and brought before the dreaded Inquisition. These stories, together with appearances by the six wives of Henry VIII, make a vivid and lively show.

Barton was Featured Artist on Oregon Public Broadcasting’s ArtBeat (2001, repeat 2005). She presented an exhibit, slide show and lecture at the International Women’s Forum of Bologna, and University of California at Bologna, Italy (2003). Her recent exhibit history includes solo and duo shows at IFCC Gallery (2007), The Art Space Gallery (2007), Washington State University, Vancouver (2006) and the Oregon Public Broadcasting Building (2005). She has shown in group shows at Guardino Gallery, Talisman Gallery, Embellishments Gallery and Buckman School. She was selected to decorate a "kow" sponsored by Portland Center for the Performing Arts as part of the "Kows for Kids on Parade” Invitational (2002).

Bonnie Meltzer, who usually uses computer parts for her mixed media constructions, has discovered "new" old objects to tickle her imagination. Globes, battered books, boxes and, yes, computer parts make up a group of small sculptures, many with wooden figures, whose subject matter covers everything from dating to global warming.

Meltzer has produced commissioned work for the University of Washington, School of Business (2000) and the National Science Foundation, a gift from the Oregon Graduate Institute (1999). Other commissions and collections include Metro Regional Government, Starker Forest, E Machines, Management Compensation Group, Inc., Lindsay Hart Neil & Weigler Attorneys, Regional National Braille Association, IBM Portland Optometric Clinic, City of Portland, Community Music Center, Clark County Juvenile Court, Sapporo, Japan.

Her one person exhibits include White Sturgeon Gallery, Vancouver, WA (2005), Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center (2003) and Contemporary Crafts Gallery (2002). Selected group exhibits include Maryhill Museum of Art (2006), Mark Woolley Gallery (2003), Metal Mobilia Gallery, Cambridge, Massachusetts (2002), Textile Arts Center, Chicago (2000) and Sogetsu Gallery & Konica Gallery, Tokyo, Japan (1989). She appeared on Oregon ArtBeat in 2001.
