The word Onda means "wave" and is used in Spanish to express what's new and different. The word characterizes Onda's philosophy of bringing unique art, craft and design from all over Latin America.
From a career in graphic, textile and interior design, Allan Oliver founded Onda in 1998 as a general art studio and gallery. The excitement created by shows of Cuban art and Ecuadorian art convinced him that the focus of the gallery should be Latin American art and craft. With four decades of living, working and traveling in the region, he has a strong sense of the style and aesthetic, and is committed to making Latin artists and their work accessible to a wider public.
Onda's growth is based on respect for the individual artists and craftspeople of Latin America and the diversity of cultures found throughout the region. We work in partnership with friends and associates to bring Latin art and crafts to the market, while promoting a greater understanding of Latin American culture and traditions in the United States.
